How Public Can Monitor, Participate in 2011 Legislature

Montanans will have many opportunities to get involved in the activities of the 2011 Legislature, even from the comfort of their own homes.

Watch or Listen

Gavel-to-gavel coverage of House and Senate floor sessions will be broadcast online and on cable television stations statewide beginning Jan. 3, the first day of the 62nd session. Floor sessions generally begin at 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. most Saturdays. The broadcasts are also archived for later viewing.

Audio broadcasts of floor sessions and committee meetings also will be available online. To access the video and audio broadcasts, visit www.leg.mt.gov/broadcast. You’ll need RealPlayer software to view or listen to them. 

In addition to Internet broadcasts, the Legislature will broadcast its proceedings over cable television through (more…)

62nd Montana Legislature Prepares for 2011

The 62nd session of the Montana Legislature will convene at noon Monday, Jan. 3, in the State Capitol in Helena.
 
The first day of session generally is brief and ceremonial. New legislators will be sworn into office, and members of each chamber will officially elect their House and Senate leaders.

Going to the Store

Main Aisle CostCo, Billings MT

While doing errands on the weekend before Christmas we noted the highways and the parking lots filled to the brim with cars and trucks from all over Montana and Wyoming and a few from North Dakota too.

We managed to easily overfill a shopping cart at CostCo, which included a couple of electronic toys to interest our grandchildren, and perhaps not surprisingly, managed to break our single day record of spending in that splendid place.

It only took 15 minutes to get out of the parking lot.

I like their no-nonsense way of storing the stuff they are going to sell us next week or next month and the great samples of some really good food. Keep up the good work dear friends at CostCo.
