Legislative Forum Draws 75 residents

If you’re one of the many who follow the 2011 legislative session, chances are you were also invited to a legislative update by your Montana Senator and Representative.  As the legislators were all home during the 4 day transmittal break, you should have heard from your local Montana legislators this last week. 

 In Lockwood, Senator Taylor Brown (Senate District 22) and Representative Jonathan McNiven (House District 44) met with local residents on Feb. 24th and heard their concerns regarding issues important to them.  From topics of medical marijuana, property rights, workmans Comp to abortion, noxious weeds and ditch access were all in the works for different topics that were discussed.

Billings Symphony 12 March: Shostakovich #5

I was wrestling with my urge to visit my brothers in Florida in March, and maybe take in a few Spring training baseball games; versus my longing to hear our Billings Symphony play the famous 5th Symphony of Shostakovich on March 12th.

Having health problems myself meant that I hadn’t been away from Billings for over a year and thus was developing a kind of cabin fever, and I knew my youngest brother Tom was having health problems too. Mine were getting better but his were getting worse. So naturally as soon as my surgeons gave me permission I was eager to go.

MT State Legislature in Recess!

For those interested in Montana politics and the bills going through the legislative session, it’s that time when all state legislators take a four day break and go back to thier respective districts and listen to what thier district and constituents have to say. 50 Senators and 100 Representatives will be completing town hall meetings through out thier districts to give an update on the 2011 legislative session. 

From topics of Medical Marijuana, Workmans Comp to abortion and noxious weeds are all in the works for different bills to be addressed.  As it’s only Half-time, this is the time to (more…)

Sunday Brunch at Perkin’s Restaurant

After Yesterday’s Snowfall

I’m not complaining, mind you, just thankful that I had 10:30 Mass on Sunday morning, an enthusiastic and skillful version of the musical Hairspray at BST early on Sunday afternoon, and of course, the Packers beating the Steelers in the SuperBowl in the late afternoon.
