T-Shirt Humor

Here is my entry for the funny t-shirt contest. This beauty was given to me by my brother Russ. All I had to do was comment nicely on it while he was wearing it: I was delighted when it came in the mail a week or two later. Just in case you are having trouble reading this it says: (more…)

The Return of Doctor Muskett

Medical Cartoon

I was getting worried when I hadn’t heard for what seemed like months from my favorite cardiac-turned-plastic surgeon, Billings’ own Dr Alan Muskett. I know I’ve blogged about him in the past but I couldn’t find the entries, though I did find in back pages of the Gazette a number of other good articles by Dr Muskett. Chalk it up to advancing age, mine, not his.

By the way, one of the many ways you can measure your own decline is to re-read a few of your past attempts at sensible blogging, which I did while searching for blogs about the good Dr Muskett. Well OK, I enjoyed a few of them, mostly those I had borrowed from others. I think I actually improved the blogosphere a little by deleting some. I should have (more…)

Some Appealing and Perhaps Useful Sniglets

Hanging Out Up North When Not Posing For Climate Change Photographers

Sniglet=a word not found in the dictionary but should. As in these: from this very useful website. And also from here. And this one too.

I must confess that I have used this word, inadvertently I’m sure, to refer to the area around (more…)

The Lizard Head

So the other day, I was in sleeping when my wife went to work and my son comes running in and says, “Dad, I got a lizard stuck in my nose!” Well, as far as I could see with one eye open, I couldn’t see anything wrong with his nose but the directness and seriousness of his approach seemed to make me want to investigate further. So I proceeded (more…)

A Gift For Those Who Have Everything Else

Classic Coffin from Cowboy Coffin and Pine Box Company

A couple of years ago the Gazette ran an article about a custom coffin-maker in Red Lodge Montana which aroused my interest. A coffin is something most of us will need at some time or other in our lives, so it seemed logical to me to let others know what is available.

Rand Herzberg, former forest ranger and now sole proprietor of Cowboy Coffin and Pine Box Company, just 3 miles south of Red Lodge, calls the above pictured coffin “deluxe.” It costs (more…)

Aspens after freezing

After the Freeze

I guess a grayish-tan is a color too, isn’t it? When we got home in the middle of October from Ashland OR this is what we found. Can we get some of that (more…)
