This is the New Logo for Montana State University Bobcats.

This is the New Logo for Montana State University Bobcats.

Montana State University Systems President Waded Crusado announced the new Montana State University Logos and updated branding info for the Bobcats.  The logos will be the first new logos at Montana State since 2004.

Decker Coal Mine to Lose More Jobs

Montana’s Decker Coal Mine has announced that they will be laying off some 70 coal mine jobs from the surface mine near the Wyoming border in mid-January, according to managers at the Mine.

It was reported that A spokesman for mine operator Ambre Energy North America attributed the layoffs to “ongoing expense management activities,” but offered no details. It is co-owned by Ambre-subsidiary KCP Inc. and Western Minerals LLC, a subsidiary of Cloud Peak Energy.

Not a good sign for the future of Montana as it appears that more jobs are lost, as in the Curett Plant in Billings, MT who also announced the closure of it’s power plant (more…)

Montana Grizzlies 2011 Football Schedule

University of  Montana:  Missoula, MT —-2011 Football Schedule below—– 

All 11 regular-season football games for the University of Montana Grizzlies will once again be televised this year,  according to UM Director of Athletics Jim O’Day.

Mid-Summer Weekend in Billings

It seems like every time I turn around there is something added to the third weekend in July here in Billings. This is good for the merchants of Billings I’m sure. Let’s see, the obvious thing that comes to mind is SummerFair, the Yellowstone Art Museum fling, this year at Veteran’s Park, suggesting a smaller affair than in the past. Still, it usually has some fairly high-class vendors;

and then there is the Big Sky State Games, which have actually been going on since last weekend and come to a climax on this coming weekend.
