Annual Threshing Bee a Big Hit!

Each booth educates the public and demonstrates how a product was harvested, whether for sugar beets, wheat, corn or barley or any other product.

Montana isn’t known for the big city lights like New York City and the famous Las Vegas.  However, it does have it’s share of history, events and Old West specialties!  Put that in modern times and it becomes an active, interesting and thrilling event to see.  The annual Threshing Bee is centered around old machinery, history, and education wrapped in one.

Annual Meeting Set for Huntley Project Museum

The Huntley Project Museum of Irrigated Agriculture is preparing for the annual meeting in June.  The one time a year event takes place at the museum and welcomes all to come and enjoy the open house before the annual meeting.  Saturday, June, 5tha at 1pm will start the annual meeting with the general membership of the community and museum. 

Last month, the Board of Directors had taken many hours of preparation and review of last years fundraisers to determine the best way to activate the community in the future.  Many community members express their concern that the building is not being used enough within the community and it’s members. 

Audrey Walleser, a community and board member, encourages all to visit the museum and check out the new displays that talk about the history of the Huntley Project, homesteader farms and the original Irrigation District which is one of the first irrigation districts in the country.  Says Walleser, the history, culture and stories I hear are what makes the Huntley Project a place to live and raise a family.

Huntley Project Museum – Unique Yellowstone County Museum

So on my way home from Billings the other day,  I was thinking about places that are outside of town yet not many people know about.  As I’m always looking for new affordable things to do in the Billings area,  I kept coming back to the yellowstone county museums and what they have to offer.
