Possible to overload on Staggering OX Food?
For decades, the thought of gouging oneself with food will make the enjoyment better. Well, that is also true for the following location. Yep, that’s right, they’re proud to acknowledge that they were rated to have one of the top 3 sandwiches in the country (for “The Nuke”.) so we had to check out the location and food ourselves.

boys eating some food unlike any other.
The sandwiches aren’t just unique, they’re downright unheard of and from the groans I heard; are the epitamy of food enjoyment.
The famous Clubfoot™ bun, which is a federally registered trademark. Half the items on the menu are trademarked™ and the other half probably should be aftering smelling them as well.
Being the kids we are, we were delighted to find that we could get hot sandwiches made with no crusts and all white bread. No small feat when you consider it’s nothing more than a Clubfoot roll basically gutted to the spongy inner goodness. They’re fried, baked, cheesy, saucy, and perfect for even the blandest tastes in your mouth… and that’s important when you read the next paragraph.
Mom skipped the Nuke™ , Three-Mile-Island™ , Mount Saint Helens™ , Saddam Slammed™ , and the Yo’ Mama Osama™ , and went straight for the Chernobyl Melt Down™. It was interesting to watch her face impressions while eating the sandwich she described as “super nummy”… I may be paraphrasing a bit there, but he did like it. He loves spicy yet filling food, but something tells me this was not what she was expecting as it was better than she expected. With the unexpected surprise reminded mom of the time she devoured Pappy’s chuckwagon dinner in Billings.
The place is fantastic, it fact it reminds me an upscale tavern in the middle of a big city neck of the woods. This place is seriously huge and spacious, but out thier in uniqueness. They do it with an honest to goodness art gallery, with a tree made of recycled artistic whatcha-ma-call-its. Really, it’s about 30-foot tall fixture and by basically making the place entertaining enough even your most attention deficient visitor like us can spend an easy hour trying for the life of us to take it all in style.
OH, and did I tell you about the live music?
We didn’t stick around for the entertainment as we had to get on the road but I could tell from the looks that it was a show to see. Now we had to drive a good ways, like 4 1/2 hours away at another hotel for the nightl. A meal like that really makes one’s mouth water and a weary guests feel at home and desire to return again. You can count on that for sure.
OH, and the MAXIM win they got? Yes, it’s a real accolade they genuinely won, but the runner-up raised some eye browses. The winner was some joke restaurant that put a whole meal on a bun (imagine that), French fries and all, and passed it off as edible. The things these days that are thought up.
More than music and major foolage, they’ve got it all on-site. Also, an on-site art gallery, and free Wi-Fi, so whether you’re looking to get in touch with your artistic side, or just stay in touch with your email, you’ve got yourself covered. This is definitely one place you’ll want to travel whether it’s coming to Montana’s Trailhead, billings, Missoula or even Helena.
You can check them out for early lunch, lunch, late lunch or dinner at the original location in Helena, Montana at 400 Euclid Ave, or in Billings or Missoula, Montana, as well as in Spokane, Washington. Check the website for directions and hours, and a calendar of upcoming events and performances too.
Demolished strawberry shortcake, believe me it was all gone at the end.
To the Right: In case you needed a reason to visit beyond the unique greatness of the food, consider the other food as well that I didn’t eat btu the looks of it was really tempting… Either way it’s your call, but it’s worth it even if just for the food.

On the outside, No architectural merit whatsoever. On the inside, Little in the way of ambiance. But very good food, which is, after all, the main reason for coming, isn’t it?
I can only add a few notes to the above good review here:
